Burns Night 2015

PDF versionSend to friend

The band's annual Burns Night dinner is on again, this year at the Hobart Function and Conference Centre, on Sunday 25 January 2015.

This annual Burns Night is one of the City of Hobart Highland Pipe Bands major fund raising events, and it helps the band continue to perform, develop, tutor and compete throughout the year.  An informal event with respect to tradition, it’s also a great night, celebrating the life and works of Scotland’s Bard with music, dancing, great food, and a dram or two to toast his memory.

The event will be held on Rabbie Burns’ birthday, the 25th January, which conveniently is Australia Day Eve, and the venue is the Hobart Function and Conference Centre on Elizabeth Pier. The attractions this year will include:

Full performance from the City of Hobart Highland Pipe Band

Dancing display from the Tas Cal Scottish Country Dancers

The Address to the Haggis, The Immortal Memory and other toasts, compered by Andrew Colrain

Live Celtic Music and dancing from the Iain MacLeod Ceilidh Band

Professional dance calling by Tony Northey

Traditional haggis, neeps and tatties, followed by a roast carvery buffet

Whisky to toast the haggis

Tickets only $60
